Posidonia 2024 – Opening Ceremony
· Posidonia 2024, the world’s leading shipping exhibition, is being inaugurated on Monday 3 June, at the Athens Metropolitan Expo and will last until 7 June.

· This year’s exhibition is the biggest in its 60-year history in terms of floor space, as needs of the organisers have well exceeded the exhibition space.
· 2,030 companies from 82 countries will exhibit their products and services from Europe, North America and Asia and will showcase their maritime credentials during the event which is expected to be attended by more than 40,000 international and Greek visitors.
· Of the 96 new or returning exhibitors, who have come back after a long absence, 25 are from Greece, demonstrating that the country has an inexhaustible source of equipment manufacturers and service providers for the shipping industry. Furthermore, from international participation, significant entries come from the United Arab Emirates with ten companies and India with eight companies.
· This year’s Posidonia hosts 23 national pavilions. The most significant increase was recorded by China, which, after the pandemic, returned stronger, with 180 companies, marking an almost 50% increase in participation. Following closely is Turkey, with a 10% increase.
· A programme of 68 Conferences and Seminars will run in parallel to offer delegates access to insightful information and knowledge imparted by an impressive array of shipping industry decision and policy makers, regulator as well as government officials from around the world.
· Over 85 shipyards from 26 countries will showcase vessel design and production innovations. Posidonia 2024 also marks the rebirth of the Greek shipbuilding industry represented by the shipbuilding units in Syros and in Elefsina, the Skaramangas shipyard and Chalkis shipyard.
· Another key attraction for this year’s event is the increased participation of advanced technology and innovation companies providing services to the shipping industries.
· Posidonia contributes a total of more than 80 million Euro to the local and national economies. The tourism industry, stand construction, forwarders, catering companies, corporate events etc. benefit from the biennial Posidonia windfall.
· Posidonia 2024 is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs & Insular Policy, the Union of Greek Shipowners and the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and with the support of the Municipality of Piraeus and the Greek Shipping Co-operation Committee.
