Consular Corps in Greece hosts festive dinner with address by Minister of Migration
Athens, Greece – On 18 December 2025, the Consular Corps in Greece held its annual festive season dinner, organized by Mr. Christos Vardikos, Honorary Consul of the Commonwealth of Dominica in the Hellenic Republic, in his capacity as President of the Consular Corps.
The distinguished keynote speaker for the evening was His Excellency Mr. Thanos Plevris, Minister of Migration and Asylum of the Hellenic Republic, who addressed the assembled diplomatic community on the Government’s new migration policy framework.
Key Announcements:
Minister Plevris outlined the Government’s strengthened approach to combating illegal immigration, particularly concerning violations of Greek borders via maritime routes. Under the new policy direction, illegal immigrants will face detention and imprisonment in accordance with the new implemented legislation.
The Consular Corps welcomes these clarifications and the Government’s commitment to streamlining immigration procedures while maintaining the security of Greek borders.
