People, safety & sustainability at the forefront: The 7th SAFETY4SEA Limassol Forum to take place on 18 March 2026

04.02.2026

The 2026 SAFETY4SEA Limassol Forum will return to Cyprus as a full-day event on Wednesday, 18 March 2026, hosted at the Columbia Venue Centre, Columbia Plaza, in Limassol.

Now in its seventh edition, SAFETY4SEA Limassol continues to be a flagship meeting point for maritime leaders, decision-makers, and innovators. The forum offers a dynamic platform for high-level dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices on the most pressing safety, regulatory, and sustainability challenges facing global shipping today.
Cyprus stands at the heart of international shipping. Ranked among the three largest ship management hubs worldwide and the largest in Europe, the country hosts more than 200 shipping and maritime services companies, managing over 20% of the world’s third-party fleet. With approximately 4,500 shore-based professionals and 55,000 seafarers employed through Cyprus-based operations, Limassol provides an ideal setting for meaningful industry engagement.

The Cypriot flag is recognized as a high-quality registry, fully compliant with international safety and security standards and listed on both the Paris and Tokyo MoUs White Lists. Backed by proactive government policies, a strong and mature shipping cluster, and a growing calendar of international maritime conferences, Cyprus continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of global shipping.

Turning momentum into impact
The 2026 Limassol forum is dedicated to turning momentum into measurable impact. With a strong focus on human factors and sustainability, the event will bring together global experts to explore how decarbonization, next-generation energy technologies, and innovation are redefining maritime operations. These developments are not only transforming vessels and fuels, but also reshaping people, safety culture, leadership, and crew welfare across the industry.

Through engaging panel discussions and expert-led presentations, the forum will spotlight the key trends and strategies set to define the next decade of maritime safety and performance.

The SAFETY4SEA Limassol Forum has become an essential meeting point for maritime professionals seeking practical insight and collaboration,” said Apo Belokas, Managing Editor of SAFETY4SEA.We are delighted to host the event once again in Cyprus, a strategic maritime hub that continues to lead by example.

Focus on Human Factors and Sustainability
As the industry accelerates towards ambitious decarbonization targets while navigating rapid digital transformation, the human element remains central to safe and sustainable progress.

Against this backdrop, the forum will feature two dedicated thematic sessions examining how human factors and environmental responsibility are driving the sector’s transition. The discussions will highlight the importance of effective leadership, a strong safety culture, continuous skills development, and credible ESG and decarbonization strategies during this defining period for shipping.

The event will welcome nearly 15 high-profile international speakers, including Capt. Daniele Badalucco (Interorient Shipmanagement), Dr. Michael Ierides (CYMEPA), Capt. Alexandros Gerokounas (LMZ Shipping), and Dafni Floride (Cyprus Marine & Maritime Institute), alongside other respected industry experts. Together, they will address critical topics such as safety and regulatory developments, ILO MLC and human factors updates, soft skills, upskilling and reskilling, ESG in shipping and sustainability, as well as the challenges and opportunities of maritime decarbonization.
