China’s logistics sector registers growth in first two months

BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) — China’s logistics sector rallied in the first two months of the year, according to an industry report.

From January to February, social logistics rose 5.9 percent year on year at comparable prices to 55.4 trillion yuan (about 7.81 trillion U.S. dollars), according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.

The growth rate was 3 percentage points higher than that in the same period last year, showing that China’s logistics sector is picking up, said the federation.

In breakdown, logistics for industrial products recovered steadily, while that for imported goods and resident’s consumption witnessed relatively fast growth.

In the first two months, revenues of the sector totaled 1.8 trillion yuan, up 5.6 percent year on year.  ■
