Athens, 23 March 2026\u00a0\u2013 The USSPS programme is entering its final phase of implementation, following the successful launch of\u00a0the unmanned floating maritime surveillance platform\u00a0at the Salamis Shipyards.<\/p>\n
The launch constitutes a key milestone in the project\u2019s development, confirming the progress of construction and the effective implementation of the programme by\u00a0ETME, which acts as the project coordinator, in collaboration with\u00a0Salamis Shipyards\u00a0and the partners of the multinational consortium.<\/p>\n
The USSPS (Unmanned Semi-fixed Sea Platform for Maritime Surveillance) is being developed under the\u00a0European Defence Industrial Development Programme\u00a0(EDIDP), under the supervision of the\u00a0General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments\u00a0(GDDIA) of the\u00a0Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, and in cooperation with the\u00a0Republic of Cyprus.<\/p>\n
Among others,\u00a0Naval Group\u00a0and\u00a0Navantia\u00a0are participating in the project, highlighting the importance of European industrial cooperation in the defence sector, as well as ETME\u2019s active role in coordinating complex programmes.<\/p>\n
The platform is being constructed at Salamis Shipyards<\/strong>, contributing to the strengthening of the domestic industrial base, while the project has now entered its final stage, with completion and operational deployment expected within 2026.<\/p>\n The\u00a0CEO of ETME, Mr Antonis Peppas<\/strong>, stated:\u00a0\u201cThe launch of the platform marks a critical step in the implementation of the USSPS programme and represents a tangible outcome of the systematic effort that has preceded it.
