The Port of Dover has been a EcoPorts member since 2003 and is now been awarded the PERS certificate for the fourth time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isabelle Ryckbost, ESPO Secretary General<\/strong>, said:\u00a0\u201c<em>Port of dover is a longstanding member of the EcoPorts network. With one third of all UK-EU trade passing the port, it is very positive to see Dover\u2019s engagement towards net-zero and towards sustainability. We are proud of having this port in the network and applaud their -re-certification<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tim Verhoeven, ESPO Senior Policy Advisor and EcoPorts Coordinator<\/strong>, commented:\u00a0\u201c<em>We are pleased to learn that the Port of Dover has been recertified with the EcoPorts PERS certification. The port has set truly impressive environmental ambitions, particularly the zero\u2011carbon commitments by 2030. Dover\u2019s leadership sets an inspiring example for all other ports across Europe and beyond.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>PERS (Port Environmental Review System) is the only port-specific environmental standard. The last five years have seen important increases in its recognition and membership, with 87 ports from 25 countries currently counting themselves as part of the EcoPorts Network, and 28 ports holding PERS certification. Compliance with the EcoPorts\u2019 PERS standard is independently assessed by LRQA Nederland B.V. and the certificate has a validity of two years.
