{"id":271823,"date":"2026-02-06T10:11:06","date_gmt":"2026-02-06T08:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maritimes.gr\/?p=271823"},"modified":"2026-02-06T10:11:06","modified_gmt":"2026-02-06T08:11:06","slug":"lloyds-register-strengthens-leadership-team-in-china-with-new-appointments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maritimes.gr\/en\/lloyds-register-strengthens-leadership-team-in-china-with-new-appointments\/","title":{"rendered":"Lloyd\u2019s Register strengthens leadership team in China with new appointments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The appointments bring together\u00a0strong\u00a0regional knowledge, technical\u00a0authority\u00a0and customer-focused leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Lloyd\u2019s Register (LR) has further enhanced its capabilities in\u00a0China\u00a0and deepened its commitment to\u00a0Chinese clients, with the announcement of three new senior appointments.<\/p>\n<p>LR\u2019s strengthened leadership team\u00a0brings\u00a0together commercial, technical and customer\u00a0expertise\u00a0to\u00a0provide\u00a0consistent technical assurance and senior-level client engagement across the region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tianxiang\u00a0Li\u202f(TX)<\/strong>, LR\u2019s Director of Global Technical Support\u00a0Office (TSO), has\u00a0been appointed as President for\u00a0Greater China.\u00a0He will lead senior client relationships and strategic engagement, strengthening alignment between LR\u2019s global technical leadership and the priorities of Chinese owners,\u00a0yards\u00a0and designers.<\/p>\n<p>TX brings extensive experience to this role, having joined LR in 2008 and held leadership positions in the Technical Support Office since 2011. Appointed Global TSO Director in 2022, he has provided leadership across technical, resource and capability challenges, ensuring globally consistent support for LR\u2019s clients. Before LR, TX worked as a Consultant\u00a0Naval Architect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Elina Papageorgiou<\/strong>, who\u00a0currently serves\u00a0as President for Greece\u00a0and Cyprus\u00a0and most recently held the role of Global Strategic Growth Director looking after LR\u2019s most prominent global clients, now expands her remit to\u00a0become Global Client Director.<\/p>\n<p>Based in LR\u2019s Shanghai office,\u00a0Elina\u00a0is\u00a0responsible for\u00a0shaping global client strategies and driving growth across key international markets, with a strong focus on strengthening partnerships in strategically important regions and building long-term client value.\u00a0She\u00a0also leads a dedicated team that acts as the primary point of contact for shipowners building in China, ensuring a consistently positive client experience throughout the build process with LR.<\/p>\n<p>With more than two decades of experience in shipping and classification, Elina\u00a0will work closely with both global and Chinese shipowners, shipbuilders, and maritime stakeholders,\u00a0reinforcing\u00a0long-term\u00a0relationships,\u00a0ensuring a positive client\u00a0experience\u00a0and supporting sustainable growth both regionally and globally.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, <strong>Nikos Tsatsaros<\/strong> has been appointed Head of the Technical Performance Group for Lloyd\u2019s Register in\u00a0Greater China, based in Shanghai. Bringing\u00a0more than\u00a020 years\u2019\u00a0experience across ship surveying, newbuilding, and commercial roles, he\u00a0will\u00a0lead teams responsible\u00a0for technical governance, performance oversight, and compliance across LR\u2019s extensive survey and newbuilding portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Nikos\u2019\u00a0role\u00a0reinforces\u00a0LR\u2019s position as a trusted partner to shipyards and shipowners, particularly as China accelerates investment in high-capacity facilities, green technologies, digitalisation, and next-generation vessels.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark Darley,\u00a0LR\u2019s\u00a0Chief\u00a0Operations\u00a0Officer<\/strong>, said:\u202f\u201c<em>These appointments\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0our belief that strong relationships, deep technical credibility, and an open, collaborative culture are fundamental to helping clients succeed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>By placing experienced leaders at the heart of decision-making, we are strengthening long-standing partnerships with the Chinese maritime community and supporting our global focus on partnership-led growth.
