The Eugenides Foundation and the Embassy of Italy in Greece have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), inaugurating a framework for systematic collaboration in the fields of blue economy, science, technology, maritime education, and culture.<\/p>\n

The MoU was signed by the Italian Ambassador, Mr. Paolo Cuculi, as well as the President of the Eugenides Foundation, Mr. Leonidas Dimitriadis-Eugenides, and the Director of the Foundation, Professor Ioannis Golias.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, the Italian Ambassador Mr. Paolo Cuculi<\/strong> emphasized the role of technology in promoting and protecting cultural heritage, and highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between Greece and Italy, stating:
\n“It is a pleasure and an honor to further strengthen the already excellent bonds between our two countries.\u00a0We are at your disposal for any initiative that promotes dialogue, knowledge, and joint actions in culture, science, and the sea \u2013 elements that unite us deeply and historically.”\u00a0I am very pleased to launch a collaboration with the Eugenides Foundation in the field of science and maritime diplomacy, promoting the excellence that Italy can express in these sectors. The Italian Embassy is particularly proud to begin this journey with the Exhibition \u201cMediterranea\u201d promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Italian Space Agency, Telespazio\/e-GEOS of the Leonardo Group, MedOR Foundation and the European Space Agency. On the basis of the most advanced satellite technologies, ancient maps and works of art, the exhibition shows the complexities and opportunities offered by our common sea, highlighting the shared roots of Italy and Greece<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n

The President of the Foundation, Mr Leonidas Dimitriadis-Eugenides<\/strong>, stressed that:
\n“The Eugenides Foundation consistently supports every initiative that showcases Mediterranean culture as well as the contemporary potential of the sea as a driver of development.\u00a0The Memorandum of Understanding with the Embassy of Italy creates a strong foundation for activities that will enhance not only scientific and cultural dialogue but also maritime education and the exchange of expertise on the challenges and opportunities of the Mediterranean.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

From early 2026, the Eugenides Foundation will host the impressive exhibition\u00a0Mediterranea \u2013 Visioni di un mare antico e complesso, an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.<\/p>\n

“The Mediterranean is one of the most sensitive but also most important seas in the world in terms of transport, energy, environment, and tourism. The blue economy is not only a developmental goal but also a necessity that requires collaboration, scientific knowledge, and responsible policies. With our new collaboration with the Embassy of Italy, we aim to promote discussion and research on these issues through joint events, educational activities, and the exchange of expertise,<\/em>”\u00a0said the Director of the Foundation, Professor Ioannis Golias<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Exhibition \u201cMEDITERRANEA \u2013 Vision of an Ancient and Complex Sea\u201d at the Eugenides Foundation<\/p>\n

\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Utilizes impressive satellite images from ESA and Telespazio\/e-Geos, specially processed for the project,<\/p>\n
