Alongside the ongoing MSP process, MSP related issues are also addressed in \u201cSpecial Frameworks for Spatial Planning\u201d (terrestrial spatial plans &#8211; TS Plans) covering specific economic sectors. Sectoral plans have been elaborated so far for aquaculture, (2011, to be revised), tourism (under finalisation) and industry, (2009, to be revised), which include spatial planning guidelines for the land-based, coastal and marine segments of each sector.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, the\u00a0THAL-CHOR I\u00a0project aimed at developing MSP methodology and implementing a pilot project for the preparation of marine spatial plans in selected areas of Cyprus and Greece, through cooperation among the two countries. Those general objectives are pursued in the second project\u00a0THAL-CHOR II (2018-2023).<\/p>\n<p><strong>MSP legislation<\/strong><br \/>\nThe EU MSP Directive is transposed into national legislation through Law 4546 (GG 101\/A\/12-June-2018) and Law 4759\/2020 (GG 245\/\u0391\/9-12-2020) amending the previous one through Chapter 2.<\/p>\n<p><strong>National MSP\u00a0authority<\/strong><br \/>\nGreece&#8217;s Competent Authority for MSP is the Ministry of Environment and Energy<\/p>\n<p><strong>Basic facts on Marine Waters<\/strong><br \/>\nGreek territorial sea, out to 6 nautical miles zone, covers approximately 92,095 km2.<br \/>\nGreece has not yet proclaimed an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).<br \/>\nAn agreement has been concluded with Italy concerning the delimitation of the continental shelf.<br \/>\nAn agreement on the delimitation of maritime zones between Greece and Albania has been signed but has not yet entered into force.<\/p>\n<p>source:<a href=\"https:\/\/maritime-spatial-planning.ec.europa.eu\/countries\/greece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/maritime-spatial-planning.ec.europa.eu\/countries\/greece<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Status: MSP process ongoing Greece has not yet adopted an MSP.
