“I consider this position as an honor and, together with the Club’s Governors, we will do our best to continue the successful course of the Propeller Club. Giorgos Xiradakis has given the Club a new impetus and deserves our congratulations on his extremely important work<\/em>”, Costis Fragoulis<\/strong> said after his election.<\/p>\n

The General Assembly and the elections to appoint the new Regular Members of the Board of Directors of The Propeller Club, was held with great success and the highest ever level of participation, on Thursday, 19 September 2019.<\/p>\n

During the General Assembly, following the proposal of the President of the General Assembly, Andreas Potamianos, the outgoing President Mr. George Xiradakis was elected as Honorary President of The International Propeller Club, Port of Piraeus.<\/p>\n

The elections for the new Board of Governors followed on Monday, September 23th, 2019.<\/p>\n

Costis Frangoulis, the highest ranking candidate during the elections and newly elected President of the Club, referred to the diverse skills needed, the collaborative teamwork and the commitment demanded by the Club’s goals in order to achieve significant results.<\/p>\n

The new Executive Board Members, elected to a 2 year term, are:<\/strong><\/p>\n

President: Costis Frangoulis, President, Founder & CEO \/ Franman Group<\/p>\n

First Vice President: Kostas Kontes, GM \/ V. Ships Greece Ltd.<\/p>\n

Second Vice President: Dimitris Patrikios, CEO  Kyklades Maritime Corporation<\/p>\n

General Secretary: Danae Bezantakou, CEO \/ Navigator Shipping Consultants<\/p>\n

Treasurer: Dimitris Vassilacos, Founder & Partner \/ Ships Finance Solutions Inc.<\/p>\n

About The Propeller Club<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The idea was conceived in New York, in 1922, by a group of professionals engaged in the merchant marine industry who gathered frequently at luncheons to discuss mutual issues and the future of shipping.<\/em><\/p>\n

These meetings gradually developed into the Propeller Club of the United States, which aims at the promotion and furtherance of the American merchant marine and international shipping in general, as a symbol of mankind’s efforts to ring for a better world through commerce and industry.<\/em><\/p>\n

“Propeller” refers to the propulsion of ships, and is symbolic of the driving force required to achieve the Club’s objectives. Today there is a Propeller Club in almost every sea and inland port in the United States, as well as in 33 cities throughout the world. The Propeller Club’s world headquarters is located in Fairfax, Virginia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Propeller Club, Port of Piraeus was founded in 1935 as a non-profit charity Association. The Club cooperates closely with the Union of Greek Shipowners, the International Chamber of Shipping, the Hellenic Short-Sea Shipowners Association, the Hellenic American Chamber etc. to promote Maritime Relations, Commerce, Goodwill and Cultural relations between citizens of Greece, the U.S. and all other countries represented by their members. The net income of the Club is fully distributed with fairness and transparency to charities and scholarships to students, primarily from naval families.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
