Automation Engineer at Enterprises Shipping &#038; Trading S.A., told maritimes.gr during the 5th ShipIT Conference held in Athens a few days ago.<\/p>\n<table align=\"left\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" style=\"width:100\\%; max-width:502px;\">\n<tr>\n<td class=\"image_apostasi\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image_sketi\" src=\"https:\/\/maritimes.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/goulielmos_roussos_it.jpg\" style=\"max-width:502px; width:100\\%; max-height:376px;\"><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td class=\"image_caption\" style=\"width:502px;\">Goulielmos Roussos<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p>&#8220;<em>More and more data is being accumulated from ships and other sources and there is a need to be able to use and evaluate it to help make decisions on the company&rsquo;s next steps&nbsp;better by&nbsp;controlling its costs and expenditure, or making decision on&nbsp;future investment&nbsp;for&nbsp;further development. All this allows&nbsp;managers of a company&nbsp;to have a better idea of what&nbsp;they want to do,<\/em>&rdquo;&nbsp;explained Mr. <strong>Roussos<\/strong>, who was also one of the speakers at the forum<\/p>\n<p>Now many actions taken by people at a slower pace and with a high likelihood of error can be made more automated, such as checking the performance of the ship&#8217;s engine or hull status, he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;The use of maritime software is nowadays&nbsp;non negotiable.&nbsp;&#8220;<em>I&nbsp;think such software is now needed.&nbsp;A very simple question, such as how much&nbsp;costs&nbsp;does a ship have today, could not be answered immediately. Now, with the click of a button in seconds, you can get the overall result you are looking for, so the company can make improvements, set goals and achieve them much more easily,<\/em>&rdquo; he stressed.<\/p>\n<p><strong><\/p>\n<table align=\"right\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" style=\"width:100\\%;
