\"\"The North Passage seems to be a ‘lure’ not only for commercial shipping, but also for cruise companies as more and more companies are choosing it. So in recent weeks, several cruise ships have sailed through the North Passage, including Hurtigruten\u2019s first hybrid ship MS Roald Amundsen.<\/p>\n\n\n

This ship covered a distance of 3,000 nautical miles between the Atlantic and Pacific using a battery system for its operation!<\/p>\n

After crossing the Northwest Passage the MS Roald Amundsen is expected to sail to the coasts of North and South America.<\/p>\n

MS Roald Amundsen cruise ship is the first of a series of similar cruise ships ordered by Hurtigruten. The second “MS Fridtjof Nansen” is expected to be delivered in 2020, while the third cruise ship of the same class is expected to be in the water in 2021.<\/p>\n

And the “Silver Explorer” cruise ship<\/strong><\/p>\n

“Silver Explorer” cruise ship managed by Silversea Cruises also travelled across the North Passage, covering a distance of 5,000 nautical miles from Nom, Alaska to Tromso, Norway. However, the Silver Explorer’s journey, at an altitude above 80 ° N, was twice accompanied by an icebreaker…<\/p>\n

According to the company announcement, passengers had the opportunity to observe polar bears and many species of wild polar nature. Specialists such as historians, biologists, botanists, geologists, ornithologists and photographers – who took part in the trip – also gave more than 50 lectures, providing very interesting information to passengers to enrich their experiences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
