Tianjin port undergoes USD2.5 bil. expansion

A total of about CNY16 billion (USD2.5 billion) will be invested in port infrastructure projects at Tianjin port in 2015, the local government said.

The projects comprises the completion of the Shenghan Petrochemical Terminal, a bulk stack yard in the port’s Nanjiang area, three petrochemical quays in Dagang area, and the 100,000-tonne Dagusha Channel of Tianjin port. Local authorities aim to complete these projects within this year.



Also, the investments will cover new projects comprising the first phase of the 100,000-tonne channel of Gaoshaling port area, a liquefied natural gas terminal, #27 general cargo berth at Nanjiang port area, and a general cargo quay in Lingang Economic Zone of Tianjin.


In 2014, the Tianjin port handled 540 million tonnes of cargoes and more than 14 million teu of containers, making it the world’s fourth-largest port in terms of cargo volumes and 10th-largest container port.
