The new insurance law (MIA 1906) will bring about a balance of interests

Mrs Moisidou Maria of Hill Dickinson speaks at maritimes TV about the new changes and their application to the marine insurance act of 1906, noting that “The changes were made in order to bring more balance to the obligations of parties with respect to three main points”, while saying that the period of transition will last for several years.

For his part, professor of Law at the University of Southampton, James Dave stresses that this concerns not only the marine insurance but also insurances in general. He points out that it is likely to have a period of uncertainty and he recommends the involved parties to act immediately and the contracts change, if necessary.

These interviews were given in the context of the seminar about the changes in act of 1906 (MIA 1906), which was organized by American Hellenic Hull. As Claims Manager of American Hellenic Hull, Kostas Karavasilis noted that this is the beginning of a series of seminars on marine insurance issues, which are addressed to all those involved in the industry, both in Greece and abroad, where American Hellenic Hull has a significant presence.
