The 46th Anniversary of Independence of the Commonwealth of Dominica was celebrated with an official dinner on November 11th at the iconic two-Michelinstarred ‘Delta’ Restaurant at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Centre. Celebrated under the theme ‘Peyi Nou, Kado Nou – Our Country, Our Gift’, this Anniversary of Independence speaks to the unwavering commitment of Dominica to harness its resources in pursuit of sustainable development.

The event, hosted Honorary Consul of Dominica to Greece, Christos Vardikos, and his charming wife Olga, transformed the venue into a spectacular enchanted garden, offering a royal ballroom experience that merged elegance with exceptional entertainment. The evening was filled with lavish banquets, a live performance and an array of distinguished guests, including Greek officials, Heads of Diplomatic Missions, fellow Honorary Consuls and leading entrepreneurs. This event is set to be the highlight of Athens’ social season, an unforgettable celebration that left guests feeling like royalty. Addressing the guests, Mr. Vardikos highlighted the historic significance of the commemoration and stressed that Dominica rises strong and determined, navigating toward a future of prosperity, embracing progress while holding firm to its values. He also remarked on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Dominica and Greece since November 2005 and that both sides enjoy excellent relations in all fields. He pointed out that H.E. the Prime Minister of Dominica, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, paid a working visit to Athens in 2017 and he also participated in the ‘Our Ocean Conference’ organised by the Greek Government in April.
