PPA S.A.: Emergency Drill on spillage incidents response at Port of Piraeus Cruise Terminal
05 December 2024. PPA S.A. conducted its annual emergency drill at the central facilities of the Port, specifically at the Cruise Terminal, simulating a marine and land spillage incident.
The primary objective of the drill was to update knowledge and skills on the appropriate specialized experience of both the competent personnel of PPA and the port users, for the effective activation and implementation of the Marine and Land Pollution Spillage Response Plan. Additionally, during the drill, the equipment that is available and activated by case for responding to pollution incidents, was presented. The drill was carried out in collaboration with the specialized contractor of PPA S.A. regarding the implementation of the plan “ANTIPOLLUTION ANE” Plan and in the presence of the Hellenic Coast Guard.
Environmental protection and preventive measures remain integral to PPA S.A’s strategy for the growth and modernization of the Port of Piraeus. In this context, the company actively promotes a variety of environmental initiatives and projects to prevent incidents and takes a proactive approach to environmental challenges.

Following the drill, a comprehensive evaluation report is prepared, to document outcomes, identify areas for improvement and ensure the highest level of operational readiness.
