Lloyd’s Register OneOcean unveils major update to OneOcean Platform

The Platform has seen significant enhancements, making efficient and accurate voyage planning simpler and safer than ever before.

Lloyd’s Register OneOcean (LR OneOcean) has launched OneOcean 2025, marking the most substantial enhancement to its digital maritime platform in recent years.

Designed to address the evolving challenges of voyage planning, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency, this latest release introduces a host of new features aimed at improving safety, reducing human error, and streamlining fleet-wide operations.

One of the standout features is enhanced passage planning capabilities, which allow users to quickly set and distribute multiple Under Keel Clearance (UKC) policies that meet SIRE 2.0 regulations and company needs. The system’s configurability ensures compliance across entire fleets, reducing the risk of grounding incidents and improving overall safety. Users receive real-time alerts for UKC policy overrides, enabling them to track, justify, and audit decisions.

The latest release also allows users to add, move, or remove columns in waypoint tables, making them company-specific and easier to work with. With the integration of UKHO TotalTide, tidal height data is now automatically extracted and applied for more accurate UKC calculations, which significantly enhances the efficiency and precision of route planning.

Additionally, automatic overhead clearance (OHC) calculations and the ability to consolidate multiple passage plans into a unified Voyage Schedule further supports enhanced operational, planning and safety requirements throughout the voyage.

Beyond navigation, OneOcean 2025 has introduced substantial enhancements in cybersecurity and system performance. The update features an upgraded .NET framework and 64-bit processing capabilities, resulting in improved speed, responsiveness, and overall platform stability. Environmental compliance has been strengthened with the introduction of predictive alerts, enabling vessels and onshore personnel to anticipate regulatory changes up to 4 days in advance and proactively adjust operations to remain compliant.

Regulatory compliance is also made easier with the seamless integration of Regs4ships Onboard, giving users immediate access to critical regulatory information alongside other services in real time.

The release of OneOcean 2025 addresses several key challenges faced by the maritime industry. Traditional methods of voyage planning, such as using Word and Excel files, are outdated, time-consuming, and prone to error. The new update simplifies and accelerates the process, making it more efficient and accurate.

Tony Brown, Senior Vice President of Product – Navigation & Compliance at LR OneOcean, said: “Managing ever-changing regulations, environmental conditions and navigational hazards are complex and time-consuming tasks which can put a significant and costly drain on time and resources.

With OneOcean 2025, we have delivered a comprehensive suite of updates that bring voyage planning and fleet management into the future. The ability to configure and automate critical processes will significantly enhance decision-making, reduce workloads, and improve overall operational efficiency.

Steven Cooper, Senior Vice President – EMEA & Americas at LR OneOcean, said: “Our customers need flexibility to configure systems to company-specific requirements, ensuring their own policies are embedded into every step of the voyage planning workflow. We took the decision to develop this self-serve functionality to give our customers full control – from configuring environmental regulations and vessel equipment, to UKC policies and waypoint tables – an industry first.

The automation eliminates a significant amount of otherwise manual data entry during passage planning. Only made possible by our truly integrated approach to data within the OneOcean Platform.

This update reflects our customers’ ambitions to uphold the highest standards of safety and environmental practices in the most flexible and efficient way. Our advisory team is also on hand to help companies take advantage of our digital solutions and new feature enhancements.
