Your Excellency, Mr. LEE Jungil, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Hellenic Republic,
Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,
Good evening to you all!
It is a great pleasure to welcome you to KR Hellas Night.
Since 2005, this event was an annual tradition up until 2019. Sadly, due to the pandemic, we’ve had an unscheduled two year break.
But finally, we meet again, and I am delighted and honored that so many distinguished guests have joined us here tonight.
Ladies and gentlemen,
As you are well aware, we are in the middle of a paradigm shift towards decarbonization and digitalization.
Decarbonization efforts to tackle the climate crisis are strengthening greenhouse gas regulations, putting immense pressure on the maritime industry.
Digital technologies, while helping us to reach zero carbon emissions by enhancing our industry’s operational efficiency, require significant investment in time and human resources.
We have a number of challenges as we head towards net zero.
However, with collaboration and dedication, I am confident that we will successfully overcome these challenges and create a sustainable future.
As a classification society, KR is putting all of our best efforts to assist shipping companies achieve carbon neutrality.
Let me give you my full assurance that KR will be a reliable partner during these difficult and ever-changing times.
Last but not least, I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to Hellenic maritime community. Thanks to your continuous support and commitment, KR has been able to improve the quality and range of our services.
