Ilias Tsakiris named among Lloyd’s List Top 10 in Marine Insurance 2025

19.12.2025

Ilias Tsakiris, CEO of Hellenic Hull and General Manager of the American Club Europe, has been named among the Top 10 in Marine Insurance 2025 by Lloyd’s List, the globally respected provider of shipping intelligence since 1734. Mr Tsakiris also serves as current Chair of the Ocean Hull Committee of the International Union of Marine insurance.

This distinction marks the second time Mr Tsakiris has been included in Lloyd’s List’s annual ranking, following his first recognition in 2020. Being named again five years later highlights a period of steady leadership and continued contribution during years of significant change for the marine insurance sector.

Over this period, Mr Tsakiris has strengthened Hellenic Hull’s international underwriting presence, built on technical depth, disciplined underwriting and close, long-standing relationships with Greek and Cypriot shipowners. Under his leadership, the company has consistently delivered results above those of the wider hull market, supported by a strong risk culture and hands-on understanding of shipping operations.

With a background at sea, Mr Tsakiris brings a practical perspective to marine insurance, placing equal emphasis on technical accuracy, responsibility and trust. These principles have shaped both his leadership style and the way Hellenic Hull works with clients, brokers and partners across the industry.

Alongside his executive role, Mr. Tsakiris has been actively involved in industry dialogue at an international level. As Chair of the IUMI’s Ocean Hull Committee, he has contributed to discussions on market cycles, reinsurance pressures, sanctions, compliance and the growing need for technical capacity. He has also played a key role in expanding IUMI’s educational initiatives, including the development of the IUMI Hull Masterclass, aimed at supporting the next generation of marine insurance professionals.

Mr Tsakiris is also recognised for his early and consistent support of ESG principles in the marine insurance sector, promoting transparency, data-driven decision-making and climate-aligned frameworks as the industry responds to the challenges of the energy transition.

I’m honoured to be named once again by Lloyd’s List among the Top 10 in Marine Insurance for 2025. When I was first included in 2020, I saw it as recognition, but also as a responsibility. Being named again five years later carries a deeper meaning, especially in an industry that has faced constant change, pressure, and uncertainty during this period”, said Mr Tsakiris.
