Greek shipping has invested more than 50 billion US dollars in China in recent years in new shipbuilding, and China should on her part also invest in Greece accordingly, ship owner George Prokopiou told MaritimesTV.
“We must first create the legislative framework so that more money can be invested in the Greek economy,” says Mr. Prokopiou, who has invested hundreds of millions in the Greek economy.

“Everyone is telling me ‘you are right’, but they do not put their signature and stamp. Why? You should ask the question,” he said.

With regard to bank financing, he stresses that it is remarkable that the Greek banks during the crisis were next to the ship owners in supporting them in practice.
“Piraeus is a nursery for new shipowners, banks need to support them as this is an investment in the future.”
